St. Edward School exists to educate students in an environment that blends learning with faith formation. Along with the families and the Catholic Community, we strive to provide a strong academic curriculum, promote Catholic values, and encourage stewardship.

Dear Parents and Students,

This week was Catholic Schools Week and we did many fun activities.  It was so much fun!  Being that it was a crazier week than usual our subjects were switched around a little bit but the students adjusted wonderfully!
In language arts we continued reading Mr. Popper’s Penguins.  The students are also working on a poster for each chapter and with partners they are working on their Mr. Popper’s Box.  On this box the students will design a cover, write character descriptions, setting, plot, and summary from the book.  So far they are doing a great job.
In social studies we have been finishing up chapter nine.  We have been learning all about the fur trade and the way of life in the Midwest in the mid 1800’s.  Many things we are familiar with, like Laura Ingalls and sod homes and also John Deere!
In math, the fourth graders started a new chapter.  We will be multiplying 2-digit number, multiplying money, and problem solving using multiplication.
Science Fair has been our theme for science this week.  We prepped our project and are ready to test our question: “Does vision affect the way food tastes?”  The students will be judged on our project next Friday during the Science Fair.
In religion we read a Venture magazine about being brave and making good choices.  The fourth graders also had fun with all the activities for CSW.  It was a busy week and a great way to celebrate your decision to send your child to a Catholic school!
Remember to have students bring money for Mardi Gras tomorrow, and your family’s cake for the Cake Walk can be brought to the 8th grade classroom
 in the morning.
The 4th graders will have a chance to pass out Valentine’s next Friday.  If your child is passing out cards, please make sure there is one for every student.  There are 16 students in 4th gradeJ
